The NFL and Hallmark are teaming up to produce a holiday romance film all thanks to the hype from Taylor and Travis’ relationship.
Never in their wildest dreams did Swifties imagine a Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce-inspired romance movie, but that blank space has been filled. Shortly after the 34-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end made his Eras Tour appearance earlier this month, the NFL and Hallmark announced that they are producing a romance movie, and multiple outlets are crediting Taylor, 34, and Travis’ relationship as the inspiration behind the film.
Hollywood Life has rounded up everything you need to know about the upcoming Hallmark love story, below!
According to a press release from the Chiefs, the title of the film will be Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story. Hallmark released a statement about the cinematic collaboration with the NFL.
“With Hallmark and the Kansas City Chiefs both homegrown, rooted in values, tradition and community, there is a special alchemy between these two iconic organizations,” Darren Abbott, Chief Brand Officer of Hallmark, said. “By blending the warmth of Hallmark storytelling with the excitement of professional football, we are thrilled to give audiences a front-row seat to this community’s spirit, rich traditions and passionate fans that define Kansas City, all wrapped up in the comforting and uplifting Hallmark way.”
The president of the Chiefs, Mark Donovan, also chimed in, noting that they are “honored to partner with Hallmark” on this production.
“As a club, we pride ourselves on exploring new ways to grow our brand, as well as connect with new audiences,” Mark added. “This partnership unites two passionate fanbases and gives us an opportunity to show Chiefs Kingdom’s energy and tradition on one of the most-watched channels during the holiday season.”
The official synopsis of Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story focuses on Alana Higman, who “is sure that her family’s lifelong history as Kansas City Chiefs superfans makes them a frontrunner to win the team’s ‘Fan of the Year’ contest.”
“Derrick, Director of Fan Engagement, is tasked with evaluating how Alana and her family stack up against the other two finalists,” the synopsis reads. “As the pair spends time together, it’s clear there’s a spark between them but when her grandfather’s vintage Chiefs, good luck winter hat goes missing, Alana begins to doubt everything she believed about fate, destiny and even questions her future with Derrick – unless, that is, a little Christmas magic can throw a Hail Mary.”
Alana will be played by actress Hunter King, who was seen in films such as The Santa Summit and Two Scoops of Italy. Shifting Gears star Tyler Hynes will be playing Derrick. Better Call Saul and Young Sheldon alum Ed Begley Jr. will be playing the role of Alana’s grandfather.
